Saint Bernhard Nunnery

The Abbey of St. Bernard is a former Cistercian monastery in Saint Bernard Frauenhofen in Lower Austria.

History

1277 was a Cistercian monastery of Neumelon for " Chrueg in Pewreich on Teffenbach ", now St. Bernard, laid. Stifter was Stephen of Maissau, who was married to Margaret of Neuhaus. Her sister Mary was in 1285 Abbess of Saint Bernard.

In 1580 the monastery dissolved during the Reformation. 1586 the monastery was left unresolved with the associated property to the Jesuit College in Vienna, after its abolition in 1773 it belonged to different owners and partly decayed until it came to the death of the Baron of honor rock at the Stift Klosterneuburg 1852. 1947, the church was renovated. In 1961, the removal of the chapter house and the cloister rest and re-erection in Klosterneuburg.
