Saint-Cyprien (Dordogne)

The municipality of Saint- Cyprien with 1576 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) is situated on a slope on the right bank of the Dordogne, in the Dordogne département of French Périgord. Origin was an abbey, built over the grave of a hermit name Cyprien, who had retreated to 620 in the caves of Fages above the modern town.

The old part of Saint -Cyprien with its narrow streets is dominated by the large church dating from the 12th century. However, only the keep the current building Romanesque, all other parts were later rebuilt in the Gothic style. The nave is covered by a ribbed vault. The establishment of the 17th century includes several reredos, pulpit, choir stalls, the organ loft and a wrought-iron balustrade. The church building is classified as a " Historical Monument".

Northeast of the village stands the castle of La Roque.
