Saint Ingrid of Skänninge

Ingrid Elovsdotter (* 1220 in Östergötland, † September 2, 1282 in Skänninge ) was a Swedish and Dominican is a Catholic Blessed. She came from one of the few great noble families in Sweden of that time and is considered the forerunner or at least as a forerunner of St. Bridget.

As a widow Ingrid established the first Dominican convent in Sweden, which she joined after a pilgrimage to Rome and Jerusalem itself. Their beatification took place on 16 March 1499, and more than eighty years after application at the Council of Constance. Since June 30, 1507 her relics are kept in Skänninge.
