Saint-Jean-le-Vieux (Ain)

Geography
The municipality of Saint -Jean -le- Vieux is located in Bugey, 25 kilometers southwest of Bourg -en- Bresse, large- seen halfway between Lyon and Geneva. In the north of the municipal territory extends to the River Ain, who gave his name to the department.
At Saint -Jean are the districts Varey and Hauterive.

History
In today's district Varey the Battle of Varey between the Count of Savoy and the Dauphin of Viennois took place on August 8, 1325.
