Saint John Flames

The Saint John Flames were a Canadian ice hockey team from Saint John, New Brunswick, who played in the American Hockey League from 1993 to 2003. The team was at this time farm team of the Calgary Flames of the NHL, who had the previous team Utica Devils initially bought and eventually relocated to Saint John.

History

After the relocation, the Flames were for the first time in 1998 in the final of the Calder Cup, the championship of the AHL, but lost to the series against the Philadelphia Phantoms. 2001 won the Saint John Flames the cup then finally with a 4-2 win against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, the farm team of the Pittsburgh Penguins. The sixth and deciding game was here in the Harbour Station, the home stadium of the team that won.

2005, the team was finally relocated to Omaha, Nebraska, where it was two seasons under the name Omaha Ak -Sar - Ben Knights active. For the 2007/08 season, the franchise was relocated again, this time in the Quad Cities, where it ran aground under the name Quad City Flames.

Famous former players

A large number of players from the Saint John Flames managed to play with success in the NHL. Thus, for example, were in the finals for the Stanley Cup in 2004, Calgary Flames against the Tampa Bay Lightning, 17 players on the ice, which had previously been active in the Saint John Flames.
