Saint-Just (Dordogne)

The French town of Saint -Just, Occitan Just Sent, located in the northwest of the department of Dordogne in the Aquitaine region. It has 126 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) and is one of the eleven municipalities of the canton Montagrier. The community is a neighbor of the Périgord -Limousin Regional Natural Park.

Etymology

Saint- Just, Just Sent Occitan, is derived from the Holy Justus ( Justus Sanctus ), a Christian martyr of the 3rd century.

Geography

The center of the town of Saint -Just located 16 kilometers northeast of Riberac and eleven km west- southwest of Brantome away (air line). The community is surrounded by the following neighboring communities:

  • Léguillac -de- Cercle in the North
  • Paussac -et -Saint -Vivien in the northeast, east and southeast
  • Grand -Brassac in the south
  • Chapdeuil in the west and
  • Cercle in the northwest.

Geology

The municipality of Saint -Just is completely underlain by flat-lying sediments of the northern Aquitaine basin. Structurally it is directly above the tectonically induced bulge of La Tour- Blanche anticline. Oldest open-minded layer member is Upper Kimmeridgian consisting of sands, sandstones, calcareous sandstones and detrital limestones. It bordered on both sides Julie. In follow cryptocrystalline limestones of the Lower Portlandiums that are pending at Les Champs. About the Doggersedimente transgredierte the Cenomanian with gray-green, sandy shales, sands and sandstones and chalky, marly limestones at the base. The Cenomanian is found in the north of the village on both sides of the Ruisseau la Buffebale and south of the disease at Le Moulin -Haut. The Turonian begins with the marly Kreidekalken of Ligériens ( center of Saint -Just and south side of the disease ), followed by the Rudistenkalken of Angoumiens (along the eastern border and on the ridge south of the disease ). The Angoumien is designed here in his kalkarenitischen Paussac facies. About the Turonian, the Coniacian sets (only on the southern ridge open ), consisting of a trilogy of Kalksanden, hard, resistant Fossilkalken and Exogyrenkalken. The anticline is crossed by two north- trending cross fractures, the north close to the village, the south to the southeast corner. Both disorders, respectively, follow the course of the right-sided dry valleys of the disease.

History

The oldest structure in Saint -Just is the church of the 12th century. The Château de Narbonne and Manoir in the village date from the 16th century.

In 1827, merged the two communes of Saint -Just and Chapdeuil, this merger was in 1877 but reversed.

The town of Saint -Just is located on the D 2 from Perigueux to La Tour- Blanche. From here branches off to the southwest, the D 102 to Grand -Brassac and Montagrier from.
