Saint-Just (Ille-et-Vilaine)

Saint -Just is a commune in the department of Ille -et -Vilaine in the Brittany region. Located at 40 km from Rennes village has 1076 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011).

The place is known among archaeologists particularly because of the numerous megalithic sites. Among them are stone rows (such as the alignments du Moulin ), pairs of tiles (like the Demoiselles de Langon ), dolmens with side chambers, the great tumulus of Château Bû ( Castle of the Ox ), menhirs and tertre tumulaire ( tumuli de la Croix Saint- Pierre, the plant Four Sarrazin ), which on a footpath (Circuit of Mégalithes ) on the heath between Saint -Just and Cojoux can be visited. The number of local menhirs is the second largest after Carnac. The main feature of the systems of Saint -Just is, that some of the monuments in the Stone Age (more than 1000 years later ) were used again in the Bronze Age.
