Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert
Saint -Just- Saint -Rambert is a French municipality with 14,135 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the arrondissement of Montbrison in the Loire department in the Rhône -Alpes. It is the administrative seat ( capital ) of the Canton of Saint -Just- Saint -Rambert.
Geography
Saint -Just- Saint -Rambert situated either side of the Loire. Saint -Rambert -sur -Loire on the west, Saint -Just- sur -Loire on the eastern shore. The municipality is situated on the plain of Forez, 10-15 kilometers northwest of Saint- Étienne.
History
In 1973, the community was formed from the two former municipalities of Saint -Just- sur -Loire and Saint -Rambert -sur -Loire. Today the municipality of leading a double coat of arms ( with the former coat of arms of Saint -Rambert left and Saint -Just right).
Saint -Just- sur -Loire
Saint -Just is a place with a long industrial tradition. Early on, settled in metal-processing operations. Dyers and glass production offered the inhabitants of the region jobs.
Saint -Rambert -sur -Loire
From the Gallo-Roman oppidum Occiacum later Saint -Rambert -sur -Loire, has been proven from 1078 the relics of St. Ragnebert († 680) was housed.
