Saint-Léger-sur-Dheune
Saint- Léger- sur- Dheune is a commune with 1553 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Saône -et -Loire in the Burgundy Region.
Geography
Saint- Léger- sur- Dheune lies in the valley of the River Dheune and on parallel Canal du Centre.
History
In the 19th century Saint- Léger- sur- Dheune developed with the construction of the Canal du Centre from an agricultural community to a commercial port. This allowed after the first flooding of the channel to market in 1793 local products (eg coal and tiles). From 1867 a railway connection was added. Today, the wealth of the region are no longer relevant and the channel is mainly used for recreational boating.

Culture and sights
Worth seeing is the Romanesque church of the 12th century with an octagonal bell tower from the 15th century. It was extended mid-19th century and restored in the late 20th century.
