Saint-Lupicin

Saint- Lupicin is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Saint- Lupicin is located on 588 m above sea level. M., about six kilometers west of the town of Saint- Claude ( a straight line ). The village is located in the Jura, a scenic location on the Plateau du Lizon, 200 meters above the valley of Bienne.

The area of ​​9.54 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The central part is (an average altitude of 580 m. M. ) occupied by the Plateau du Lizon, which has a width of about 1.5 km and a length of two kilometers. History

In the area of present-day Saint- Lupicin the Holy Lupicinus ( brother of St. Romanus ) founded a priory in the year 445. Already in the year 480 was one of the Priory some 150 monks.
