Saint-Mandé (Paris Métro)

Saint- Mandé is an underground station on Line 1 of the Paris Métro. It is located in the eastern Paris suburb of Saint- Mandé under the Avenue de Paris.

The station was put into operation on 24 March 1934 opening of the section Porte de Vincennes Château de Vincennes. Until the central station Châtelet is about five and a half kilometers. Since mid- 2008, the station has with the introduction of driverless operation in 2011 and 2012 on platform screen doors.

Naming

The name Saint- Mandé was initially the current station Picpus, because it lies at the intersection of Avenue de Saint- Mandé.

The current station was initially the name Tourelle, named after long- destroyed fortifications of the castle of Vincennes. In 1937, the station in Saint- Mandé - renamed Tourelle. The current name is used by the RATP only since the late 1990s.

The station has five entrances: three are located in the Avenue de Paris, two in the Avenue Gallieni.
