Saint-Maurice (Val-de-Marne)

Saint- Maurice is a commune with 14,586 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the southeast of Paris. It belongs to the department of Val -de- Marne and located in the Île- de -France region. The distance to the center of the capital is about seven kilometers.

History

Originally called the church in Charenton- Saint- Maurice. 1842, the name was shortened to Saint- Maurice.

1929, the community lost half of its territory because the forest of Vincennes was the city of Paris slammed.

Partnership

  • Since 1957, a partnership connects the two villages of Saint -Maurice in the Valais canton of Switzerland and in the valley of the Marne.
  • Another partnership was established in 1996 on the German community Erlenbach am Main.

Economy

The film production company Gaumont has in place a film studio, which is only one of four locations Francisco studios.
