Saint-Michel (Montreal Metro)

Saint -Michel is a metro station in Montreal. It is located in the arrondissement of Villeray -Saint -Michel- Parc- Extension at the intersection of Boulevard Saint- Michel and Boulevard Shaughnessy. It is the northern terminus of the Blue Line 2 In 2006, 3,925,861 passengers used the station, which corresponds to the 18th place among the 68 stations of the Metro Montreal.

Building

Designed by the architectural firm Lemoyne & Associés station was built in the form of a tunnel station, interrupted by a large, cube-shaped building in the center, from where stairs and escalators leading up to the distribution level. On rails attached, square luminous bodies to convey a different, industrially anmutendenden sight. The manifold layer is similarly structured and is illuminated from above by incident light. The two existing brick entrance pavilions are modeled on the industrial architecture.

Art

Four different artists designed depending on a large-scale mural, which was painted on the concrete wall and covered with glass bricks. They are each 14.6 meters long and 2 meters high. Charles Lemay held people going about the lake various activities. Lauréat Marois combined realistic nature scenes with strict geometric shapes in shades of blue. Normand Moffat put plants in various shades of brown and in abstract form dar.

History

The opening of the station, while the blue line on 16 June 1986 in conjunction with the section in the direction of De Castelnau. It is named after the Boulevard Saint -Michel, named after the Archangel Michael, the patron saint of soldiers and warriors.
