Saint Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance

The State University of Economics and Finance Saint Petersburg (Russian: Санкт - Петербургский государственный университет экономики и финансов / Saint - Peterburgski gossudarstwenny universitet ekonomiki i Finansów; short Финэк or FINEC ) is the largest University of Economics in Saint Petersburg and one of the largest of its kind in Russia.

History

The State University of Economics and Finance Saint Petersburg was founded in 1930 as University of Finance Leningrad (Russian Ленинградский финансово - экономический институт, ЛФЭИ / Leningradski financial and ekonomitscheski institute, LFSI ). In war, the teaching was evacuated in the Caucasus. Since the 1960s, the university is considered a leader in the training of Russian economists. It was converted on 23 September 1991 by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation in a university and given its present name.

After the end of the communist era, the economic study was fundamentally changed and supplemented with new subjects such as micro- and macroeconomics, Banking / Finance and securities as well as marketing. The FINEC founded the first marketing department of Russia. The students have to attend one of the foreign languages ​​German, English, French, Spanish or Chinese.

The university is located in the center of Saint Petersburg on Griboyedov Canal near the Nevsky Prospect. Headquarters is a neoclassical building by the famous Italian architect Giacomo Quarenghi from 1790, the former seat of the Currency Bank.

2011 studied about 15,000 students here. Since 1991, an international research conference for students is annually organized, can keep their presentations to this. 2009, the research and training center for energy policy was founded. It operates in the energy industry issues with a regional focus on Eurasia.

The State Economic University Saint Petersburg was founded on August 1, 2012 from the union of the State University of Economics and Finance Saint Petersburg State University of Engineering and Economics Saint Petersburg ( Санкт - Петербургский государственный инженерно - экономический университет ). On 29 December 2012, the State University of Service and Economics Saint Petersburg ( Санкт - Петербургский государственный университет сервиса и экономики ) was incorporated into the newly-founded University. The three hitherto independent universities have been transformed into institutions within the University.

The university collaborates with other European universities in the framework of EuroFaculty project in Pskov in the promotion of entrepreneurship and business start-ups.

Study

The academic year at the University begins in the first days of September. The winter semester runs from September 1 to January 31 ( as from 25th December exam period ); Summer semester - from 7:02 to 30.06. ( as of May 25 exam time ). The study is divided into a two-year foundation course and a three-year main study.

Exchange students may participate in a large part of the regular lectures. In addition, they specialized courses in English are offered, while participating in a Russian course is mandatory.
