Saint-Seine-l'Abbaye

Saint -Seine L'Abbaye is a commune with 358 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Côte-d'Or department in Burgundy.

Background

Politically the town is part of the arrondissement of Dijon and is the administrative center of the canton of Saint -Seine L'Abbaye.

The village lies in a valley floor and is dominated by the Church of Saint Seine. This formerly belonged to a Benedictine monastery was founded here in the 6th century, is one of the oldest monasteries of Burgundy and the germ of the present settlement was.

Attractions

The Church of St. Seine ( Église Saint Seine). With the construction of the church began in the 13th century, but before the completion she fell victim to a fire.
