Saint Theophilus of Corte

Theophilus of Corte ( born October 30, 1676 in Corte, Corsica, † May 19 1740 in Fucecchio, Italy) was a Franciscan and a priest. He is venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church.

Life

Theophilus entered the age of 17 at the Franciscan order and later received the priesthood. From 1703 he lived in retreat houses in the Province of the Order of Rome and founded in 1731 even more. Theophilus acted as a moral theologian and missionary people. He was in his last years religious superior in the monastery in Fucecchio.

He was on 19 January 1895 by Pope Leo XIII. beatified by Pope Pius XI and. canonized on 29 June 1930. He is Patron of Corsica. His feast day in the liturgy is May 19
