Saint Timothy

Timothy ( ancient Greek Τιμόθεος, Timotheos; * in Lystra in Konya in present day Turkey, † 97 in Ephesus ) was an employee of the Apostle Paul.

Life

Timothy was the son of a Greek and the Christian faith -down Jewess Eunice. According to reports, the book of Acts and Paul's letters, he accompanied Paul on his missionary journeys, after he had discovered him in his hometown and taken. The Acts also reported that Paul did make to Timothy circumcision leave ( Acts 16:3 EU).

According to later tradition was Timothy first bishop of Ephesus, and found there a martyr.

The name means something like " Fear God ," or " Glory to God " (Greek ).
