Origin and History

The Epagneul de Saint- Usuge is one of the old French Vorstehhundrassen. Its origin is in the range Bresse, between Jura and Burgundy. There is also now the breeding center of gravity. After he was rescued as a race on the Second World War, in 1990 founded the Club de l' Epagneul de Saint- Usuge. A year later, the breed standard was revised in 1936. Since 2003, the breed of the French Société Centrale Canine ( SCC) is nationally recognized. This assigns the breed FCI Group 7, Section 1.2 and submit a work test for breed fixed. Description

As the smallest French pointing dog he reached a shoulder height of up to 54 cm. In appearance it is similar to the Small Munsterlander. The color of the coat is solid brown or brown roan.

Use

The Epagneul de Saint- Usuge was originally bred for hunting woodcock in difficult terrain. Today he is as versatile pointing dog on hair and birds on the water and in the Usage field. He is both before and after the shot, a tireless helper on the hunt.
