Sainte-Brigitte

Sainte -Brigitte ( Breton: Berc'hed ) is a commune with 168 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Morbihan in the Brittany region. It belongs to the Local Government Association, Pontivy Communauté.

Geography

Sainte -Brigitte is located in the far north of the department of Morbihan on the border with the department of Cotes -d'Armor and belongs to the Pays de Pontivy.

Neighboring communities are located in the department of Côtes- d'Armor Perret communities in the North West and Saint- Gelven in the north, Saint- Aignan in the east, as well as Silfiac in the south and southwest.

The place is a bit away from roads for inter-regional traffic. The most important road is the N164, which passes a few kilometers to the north.

The most important body of water is the Lac de Guerlédan in the north of the municipality. In addition, there are numerous ponds in the municipality. The largest among them are Etang des Salles and Etang du Fourneau. Other important bodies of water are the Blavet River and the creeks and Les Forges Pont Thomas. These also form part of the municipality and the department of border. A not insignificant part of the municipal area is covered by forest Forêt de Quénécan.

Demographics

History

The municipality belongs to the historic region of Brittany Bro Gwened (French Vannetais ) and within this region to region Kost ar C'hoad (French as well ) and shares his story. Since 1793 Sainte -Brigitte belongs to the canton Cléguérec.
