Sainte-Marie-du-Mont (Manche)

Sainte -Marie -du Mont is a commune in the department of Manche in Basse-Normandie region. It is situated on the Cotentin Peninsula in Normandy, on the coast was called before the Second World War " La Madeleine " and landed on the morning of June 6, 1944, American troops to invade. Since then this stretch of beach, " Utah Beach " calls.

The village of Sainte -Marie -du Mont with its 745 inhabitants ( January 1, 2011 ) is a center of cattle and is close to a reserve for migratory birds. Dominating the town is the church tower in the center of the village, which dates back to the 11th century.
