Śākaṭāyana

Shakatayana ( Sanskrit: शाकटायन, Śākaṭāyana ) is a grammarian of ancient India, who lived in the 8th century BC. His works have been lost, but through quotes in younger writers such as Yaska its existence is proven. Shakatayana is the first known grammarian at all.
