Saku (Nagano)
Saku (Japanese佐 久 市, -shi ) is a city in the east of Nagano Prefecture on the main Japanese island of Honshu.
Geography
Saku is located west of Takasaki and southeast of Nagano.
In addition, Saku prides itself to be the city farthest from the sea of Japan.
History
The "old" city of Saku was founded on April 1, 1961 from the former municipalities Nozawa, Nakagomi, Azuma and Asama.
On 1 April 2005, Saku joined with the cities Usuda and Mochizuki, as well as the village Asashina to the "new " city of Saku together.
Education
Saku Saku is the location of the university, as well as the short high school Shinshu. In addition, several middle and high schools are located in the city.
