Sakura-ku (Saitama)
Sakura -ku (桜 区Japanese, cherry District ') is a municipality ( ku ) of the Japanese city of Saitama. Sakura is located on the Arakawa river in the vicinity of Tokyo.
History
As an independent city with over 500,000 inhabitants Urawa was until 2001 the administrative headquarters of Saitama Prefecture on Honshu, the main island of Japan. On 1 May 2001 Urawa as a city ( shi) was dissolved and merged with Ōmiya, Yono and Iwatsuki the new prefectural capital Saitama, in the former city of Urawa the southern districts Sakura -ku, Urawa -ku, Minami -ku (, Southern District ' ) and Midori -ku ( green district ') forms.
