Geography

Geographical location

Salach is in the Fils Valley in 350-563 meters altitude, about seven kilometers east of the county town of Göppingen away.

Neighboring communities

Salach bordered to the north by Otten stream, in the east on the town Donzdorf, to the south by the city of Sweet and to the west by the city Eislingen.

To Salach include the village Salach, the hamlet of Bear Creek, the courtyards Bärenbachhof, bears Hoefle, Baierhof, Kapfhöfe and Staufeneck and the house Au.

History

Built-on through the industrial area " Stony ash " is the Roman fort Eislingen - Salach. It was probably between 125 AD and 159 AD

1275 Salach was first mentioned in writing in the control register Liber decimationis of the diocese of Constance. At that time there was already a parish, so that the place already had a certain size. It was ruled by lords of Staufeneck that the place in 1333 sold to the Count von Rechenberg. After the extinction of the main line right bergischen the counts of Degenfeldstrasse took over the village.

Since 1608 a school in town detectable. With the mediatization Salach 1806 came to the Kingdom of Württemberg.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms shows a blue lion standing on a yellow shield. It is equal to the coat of arms of the lords of Staufeneck whose ancestral castle is a ruin on the mountian Salach. The use as a local coat of arms was proposed in 1912 by the Archives Directorate in Stuttgart, the ceremony along with blue - yellow flag was carried by the Home Office on March 7, 1960.

Salach is located on the main road 10 ( Lebach -Augsburg ).
