Salaryman

Salaryman (Japaneseサラリーマン, Sarariman ) is a Japanese term for male office workers in renowned companies. He is a Scheinanglizismus ( Wasei - Eigo ), composed of "salary " for " content " and "man " for " man ".

Earlier, it was the goal of high school students and students Salaryman to be in a reputed company. This changed with the gradual dissolution of lifelong employment.

The female counterpart of the Salaryman is the office lady ( office lady ), a female employee who usually has less power than their male counterparts. However, this is rapidly changing: women engaged in the same profession as a salaryman, are referred to as career woman (キャリア ウーマン, kyaria Uman ).
