Salerno horse

The Salerner is one of the most attractive warmblood breeds Italy. He has an overall pleasing appearance and is a good type of cavalry horse with good jumping ability.

Exterior

The Salerner has a shoulder height of 163 cm and can be found in this breed all vivid colors. In general, he has good body proportions with a well cellared sloping shoulder and a strong hind legs. The limbs are correct with good hooves.

Breeding history

The origin of this breed is in the 18th century in the Italian state stud Persano, whose horse fell to the Neapolitans. These were crossed with native horses of Salerno and Ofantotales and also Arabic and Spanish blood was supplied. The result was a good riding horse.

However, the stud was resolved with the emergence of the Italian Republic. Around 1900 the breed was resumed and since then the name of this breed Salerner. Today it is still grown mainly in the stud Morese.
