Sallingsund in the Limfjord

Sallingsundbroen ( Sallingsund ) is opened in 1978, the bridge that crosses the Sallingsund in the Limfjord. About it the highway Primærrute 26, which connects the Danish island of Mors with the peninsula in the north of Jutland Salling runs. The two-lane road bridge daily by more than 10,000 vehicles passed (as of 2009 ).

The 1717 m long girder bridge, which is supported by two abutments and 18 reinforced concrete piers, consists of 17 holes á á 93 m and two 51 m. History

After 1939, was opened to the west of Mors located Vilsundbroen, expectations rose for a bridge over the Sallingsund. The plans, however, had to be adjusted because of the German occupation of Denmark and led in 1966 to a final decision. The finally from 1973 to 1978 built bridge was thus around 40 years later completed as expected. The building thus replacing the existing since the Middle Ages ferry service between pinene on Salling and plagues on Mors from ( 1873 to 1924 between Glyngore and Nykøbing ). The opening ceremony on 30th May 1978 where the Danish Queen Margrethe II was present, was overshadowed by a bomb threat, so that the bridge in the course of the ceremony had to be shut off. The construction of the Sallingsundbroen led to an increase in industrial estates on Mors.
