Salmon Falls River

BW

The Salmon Falls River ( literally translated: "Salmon Falls River ") is a border between the U.S. states of New Hampshire and Maine.

The Salmon Falls River has its origin at the dam below the Horn Pond, a small reservoir fed by the Great East Lake. From there, the Salmon Falls River flows in a south-southeast direction predominantly along the state line over a distance of 61 km to its confluence with the Cocheco River to the Piscataqua River, whose common estuary, southeast of Dover. At the lowest 5 km, the tides make the river noticeable. Cities and towns along the river are: Milton, East Rochester, Somersworth, Berwick, Rollinsford and South Berwick. The Great Works River flows below South Berwick - about 5 km before the confluence of the Salmon Falls and Cocheco River - left hand into the river. The Salmon Falls River drains an area of 595 km ².
