Salomon Adler
Salomon Adler ( * 1630 in Gdansk, † shortly after 1691 in Milan ) was a German portrait painter of the Baroque and worked mainly in Milan and Bergamo.
Life
Adler came from a family of cloth heaters. He was Lutheran. After Drost shows his style of painting ( with reference to Rembrandt and his penchant FOR oriental clothes in his portraits ) an early education in Gdansk, but he also walked at a young age to Italy. In the years 1679-1691 he was demonstrably in Milan.
He was the teacher of Fra Galgario that his staff was also at times.
Self-portraits of eagles can be found in the Brera, Milan, Budapest and in the Uffizi. Apart Rembrandt and the French court painter Hyacinthe Rigaud is called as an influence.
