Salsa dance (LA Style)

The Los Angeles style, created between 1995 and 2000, is a salsa dance style. It is often abbreviated as L.A. style. As the first propagator, the brothers Luis, Francisco and Johnny Vazquez apply.

Characteristics

The Los Angeles Style contains an extraordinary number of choreographic elements and show figures, which makes it particularly in movie theater productions, performances and dance competitions popular. He is now often referred to as a synonym for Salsa "on 1", " on line " in common usage and is therefore confused with New York Style to 1. LA style can be danced exclusively on one (in contrast to New York style of both " to 2" than can be danced "to 1 "). Within the amateur scene has become popular Salsa "to 1 " and is often danced to salsa parties; it is feasible figures against choreographed elements have prevailed. In continental Europe, many dance schools refer to this style. Strictly speaking, is to use no real difference from New York style to 1, LA style and the other cross body salsa styles. LA Style was decisively influenced by Johnny Vasquez, but always learns new influences and changes through the scene, among other things, to salsa congresses and conventions. So Salsa is attributable to the vibrant dance forms.

Stressing the "1" when "to 1 Dancing " ( LA Style, etc. ..) is at the popular blends of Salsa and Reggaeton ( Salsaton ) usually easier, since there the one is also easier to hear. It usually corresponds to the more usual in western culture listening habits (such as rock, folk music, etc.). In many older traditional salsas but clearly the emphasis on the two heard ( Fania All Stars, etc.) The emphasis on the offbeat, the "2" (often in Jazz / Black music ), does not occur in the German folk music. Accordingly, the musical settling at Salsa "on 1" for members of the Western cultural circles often lighter.

Its features include:

  • In the basic step of the man's wife goes to the first beat with left forward, right back.
  • The woman focuses more the line as the man who almost every step takes place on the line.
  • Existence prolonged periods without physical contact or guide in which the dancers / inside for yourself shine ( Shines ).

Typical figures:

  • Cross Body Lead
  • Open Break
  • Sombrero
  • Titanic

In Germany, the salsa is on the line at 1 ( LA Style, etc. ) in the south and west, the most widespread.
