The Imera Meridional (Italian southern Himera ) is a river in Sicily Licata and flows into the Mediterranean Sea, the Strait of Sicily where it is known.

With 144 km it is the longest river of the island. The river originates in the situated on the northern part of the island mountains of Monti Madonie at Pizzo Catarineci.

The also springing near salso flows 29 km together with the Meridional Himera. Thereafter, the flow continues to flow in a southerly direction. Although the official name after the unification of the two rivers Himera Meridonale is, the combined flow is often referred to as salso.

The Imera Meridonale flows through the provinces of Palermo, Enna and Caltanissetta and flows into the Mediterranean Licata.

The river's name in ancient times was Himeras. In the year 311 BC, the Battle of Himera took place near the modern Licata, was defeated by the Carthaginians in Agathocles of Syracuse.

The Imera Settentrionale (Italian northern Himera ) is a river in Sicily and ends at the ancient city of Himera in the Tyrrhenian Sea.
