Salvatore Gambino ( born November 27, 1983 in Hagen ) is a German football player of Italian descent.

Career

He began his career at VfB Westhofen in sword. Gambino played from 1996 to Borussia Dortmund. He was first employed in the C- Juniors, later at the Junior B in the A- junior and amateur team of Borussia Dortmund. When DaimlerChrysler Junior Cup 2002 Gambino was voted the best player of the tournament. With various youth teams of Borussia Dortmund, he became German champion. After he graduated in 2003/ 04 20 Bundesliga games in the season and immediately scored twice on his debut against Bayer Leverkusen, he came, due to frequent injuries in the season 2004/ 05 to just ten inserts. With Borussia Dortmund, he was employed as a winger, which attaches as technically skilled players also like to dribble. For the 2006/07 season, he joined the 1st FC Cologne.

After two years in Cologne and the rise of the 1 FC Cologne in the Bundesliga, he joined TuS Koblenz. In the preseason, however, Gambino injured and did not return until the end of the season back in the squad. His contract in Koblenz was disbanded in June 2009.

In October 2009, Gambino completed a trial with Norwegian first division side Kongsvinger IL and was subsequently put under contract. Previously, he had kept fit with the second team of Borussia Dortmund. After promotion to the Tippeligaen Gambino's contract was not renewed.

On 29 December 2010 Gambino signed a contract in the Italian fourth division, Lega Pro Seconda Divisione of, the Movers Trapani Calcio. At the end of the season the club was second and qualified for the play-off games. There they defeated in the semifinals and the finals FC Neapolis Mugnano AS Avellino 1912. Therefore Gambino rose with the club in the third league, the Lega Pro Prima Divisione, on. In the 2011/12 season Gambino completed 32 games and scored nine goals. The club was promoted as a surprisingly long time leader and had only just beaten Spezia Calcio at the end of the season but failed to qualify for the play- off games again. There, however, the club failed in the final at SS Virtus Lanciano.

In summer 2012, Gambino moved to the Series B relegated AS Gubbio 1910. After only a month, he broke his contract but there again, and moved end of August 2012 back to Trapani Calcio.
