Salvatore Schillaci

Salvatore " Toto " Schillaci ( born December 1, 1964 in Palermo, Sicily ) is a retired Italian footballer. He gained particular notoriety that he scored six of his seven international goals in the Football World Cup 1990 in their own country, which earned him the Golden Boot as top scorer of the tournament.

Career

His debut as a professional player was Totò Schillaci in the 1982/83 season at FC Messina. In the season 1989/90 he moved to Juventus, where he won the Coppa Italia and the UEFA Cup won under Dino Zoff. His performance earned him a nomination for the World Cup squad.

With his goals at the World Cup Schillaci Italy paved the way to the semifinals, where you failed on penalties to Argentina. In the match for third place against England, Schillaci the top scorer in the 85th minute secured by a 2-1 final score penalty.

After his acclaimed performance in the World Cup Schillaci moved to Inter Milan, but where his achievements subsided. In 1994, the striker left Italy and moved to Japan to Jubilo Iwata and became the first Italian in the J. League. In 1997, he finally ended his career.

In May 2008, Salvatore Schillaci returned again and played the last game of Excellenza Pugliese for Leonessa Altamura, who had by then lost all 33 games. However, he could not keep from losing even the last season game the club.
