Salve, Apulia

Salve is a municipality with 4765 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Lecce, the southern Italian region of Puglia, a good 12 km from Cape Santa Maria di Leuca.

The area of Salve has been inhabited since the Bronze Age. In the 9th century the Saracens city walls were built for defense, as in the 15th century against the Ottomans.

After the Second World War, developed on the coast of Salve beach tourism, which today is one of the most important industries of the region.
