The silver sage or silver leaf sage (Salvia argentea, Syn: .. Salvia aethiopis bread non L., Salvia candidissima cast non Vahl ) is a species of the genus sage (Salvia ) in the mint family ( Lamiaceae).

Description

The Silver Sage is a herbaceous plant with unpleasant smell. The stem is hairy and naked axes. The lamina of the leaves is egg-shaped and 6-9 cm long and 3-6 cm wide; Up to decreases wooliness and size.

The flowering time is June and July. The crown of the flower is white, sometimes pink or yellowish.

Distribution and location

The silver sage growing in the western Mediterranean, including North Africa, rare in France; east the rich deposits to Bulgaria.

As a growing area preferred the sage dry fallow land and meadows. At congenial locations he spreads by self- seeding.
