Salza Irpina

Salza Irpinia is a town in the southeast in the Campania region, about 15 km southeast of the provincial capital city Avellino with 764 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012). The place is part of the mountain community Comunità Montana Terminio Cervialto.

Geography

Salza is in the countryside Irpinia. Borders the following municipalities: Chiusano di San Domenico, Parolise, San Potito Ultra, Sorbo Serpico, Volturara Irpina.

After Salza also suffered extensive damage during the great earthquake of 23 November 1980 parts of the village were built back in fashion. Before the church was built a piazza, on which every year a festival in honor of the Madonna delle Neve will be held in September.
