Geographical Location

Salt route is the Danube- forest on a small ridge north of the Danube and east of the Ilz. The place is located just 5 km north of Passau, 20 km south of Forest churches and 28 km from Freyung. For the Federal Highway 3 (exit Passau -Nord, Passau or Passau Center -South) are both 15 km away.

History

The village road salt road was built on the mule track between Bavaria and Bohemia, who was named Golden Trail in the early 16th century. In records of the Bishopric of Passau 1209 Olricus Salzweger and in 1222 a Ulricus Salzweger are mentioned as witnesses. Salzweg was supervised both in pastoral and administrative matters of Straßkirchen that remained in 1803 the official residence until the secularization.

1803 Salzweg was secularized with the largest part of the hochstiftischen area in favor of the Archduke Ferdinand of Tuscany and fell until 1805 to Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

In 1900 the city counted 10 properties and about 200 inhabitants. It was not until 1910 Salzweg received a private school. From the mid-20th century, the population grew rapidly. Here the vicinity seemed to Passau, which made many workers take up residence in Salt Path, on the other hand were small and medium-sized enterprises in Salzweg a good spot. In 1965, the parish of Salt Path was built.

  • Fresh wind - Green: 2 seats (12.1% of the vote)
  • Young List: 1 seat ( 9.1% of the vote)

Mayor

Mayor is Horst Wipplingerstrasse (CSU ), who was first elected in 2002 and 2008, re-elected with 55.48 % of the valid votes. This was the successor to Georg Knon (CSU, 2007 deceased), who was 24 years mayor. 2nd Mayor Rudolf Gibis (CSU ), and as Mayor 3 acts Dr. Brunhilde Heidersberger (CSU ).

Finances

The municipal tax revenue amounted to the equivalent of 2431 T € in 1999, which amounted to the trade tax revenues ( net) equivalent to € 344 thousand.
