Sam and the Womp

Sam and the Womp is a British Funpop band.

Band History

The trio with the unusual instrumentation Brass, Bass and vocals joined in 2009, in London. With a mixture of Dubsteprhythmus, ska and Balkanpop they played live entertainment music. Head and namesake of the band 's Sam Ritchie, trumpet, trombone and saxophone dominates. The singer Bloem de Ligny, which is called in the band Lady Oo, originally from the Netherlands and had in 1998 released their debut album. Aaron Horn, DJ and bassist of the band, is also known as Aaron Audio and the son of Trevor Horn.

Sam and the Womp Bom Bom published the song on the Internet, where it found a lot of attention and eventually London 2012 was used as background music for coverage of the Summer Olympics. When the song was subsequently released as a single, it popped straight to number 1 in the UK charts. After that, it was also used in advertisements for Southern Comfort and spread all over the United Kingdom in addition to other countries. Thus, the song reached # 4 in Australia. In the U.S., it came the end of 2012 at least in the Bubbling Under- charts. In Germany two- track CD on May 3, 2013 were published. Even before the title acquired through use in the show Germany's Next Top Model so much popularity that it successfully entered the German charts.
