Sam Brown (guitarist)

Sam T. Brown ( born January 19, 1939 in Saint Louis, Missouri, † 28 December 1977 in Bloomington, Indiana ) was an American jazz guitarist.

Brown, who played acoustic guitar in particular, was involved in Escalator over the Hill by Carla Bley and the Liberation Music Orchestra by Charlie Haden. Later he was a member of the Thad Jones / Mel Lewis Orchestra. In 1971 he played in a quartet of Gary Burton and was involved in the recording with Keith Jarrett. 1972 Jarrett took him to his production Expectations; also, he worked on Paul Motian 's debut album " Conception Vessel" with Jarrett and violinist Leroy Jenkins. In 1974 he played at Jarrett Treasure Iceland. He recorded with Paul Desmond, Bill Evans, with Richard Davis and Bill Lee and James Brown.
