Sam Butera

Sam Butera ( born August 17, 1927 in New Orleans, Louisiana, † June 3, 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada) was an American tenor saxophonist and arranger.

At the age of 18 he was elected in a contest, which was held at Carnegie Hall in New York City one of the outstanding teenage musicians in the United States. In 1954 he was hired by Louis Prima and Keely Smith singing duo to Las Vegas, whose backing he headed. During this time, many of the most famous recordings of " Sam Butera & The Witnesses " have emerged. Sam Butera also worked with Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr.. He gave up last concerts, including Las Vegas. He was inducted into the " Las Vegas Hall of Fame" in 1999. In the same year Sam Butera was a frequent guest star at concerts by Van Morrison. There followed a further collaboration in 2003, the Sam Butera led to England and Germany.
