Sam Coppersmith

Samuel G. "Sam" Coppersmith ( May 22nd, 1955 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania) is an American politician. Between 1993 and 1995 he represented the first electoral district of the State of Arizona in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Sam Coppersmith to 1976 studied at Harvard University. From 1977 to 1979 he worked for the State Department of the United States at the American Embassy in Port of Spain (Trinidad and Tobago). Then he studied until 1982 at Yale University law. After his were made in the same year he was admitted as a lawyer until 1983 assistant of Judge William C. Canby on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the ninth judicial district.

In 1984, Coppersmith was then for Terry Goddard, the mayor of Phoenix, works. From 1989 to 1982 he was a member and chairman of a municipal committee in Phoenix (Phoenix Board of Adjustjment ). At the same time was Coppersmith lawyer with a focus on commercial and real estate law. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1992, he was elected as a candidate of his party for the first congressional district of Arizona in the U.S. House of Representatives. There he entered on January 3, 1993 to succeed John Jacob Rhodes. Two years later he gave up for reelection. This ended his time in Congress on January 3, 1995.

A candidate for the U.S. Senate was unsuccessful in 1994. In the following years Coppersmith was temporarily Chairman of the Democratic Party in Arizona. Today he works as a lawyer with a focus on real estate law. He is the managing partner of the law firm of Coppersmith Gordon Schermer & Brockelman PLC
