Sam Phran District

Amphoe Sam Phran ( Thai: อำเภอ สามพราน, pronounced: [ să ː m p ʰ ra ː n]; different spelling: Sampran ) is the southernmost district ( Amphoe ) of Nakhon Pathom. The Nakhon Pathom province is located in the middle of Central Thailand.

Geography

The neighboring Amphoe are clockwise from the north: Mueang Nakhon Pathom, Nakhon Chai Si and Phutthamonthon of Nakhon Pathom Province, and Nong Khaem Thawi Watthana of Bangkok Amphoe Krathum Baen and Ban Phaeo Samut Sakhon Province and Amphoe Bang Phae of Ratchaburi Province.

The main water resource of Sam Phran is the Maenam Tha Chin, also Nakhon Chai Si River, called the county of flows in large meanders in a southeasterly direction.

Economy and culture

Sam Phran is known for its clothing and textile factories, many of which are exclusive manufacture for international well-known brand companies. Another important economic factor is the extensively operated pigs.

While Sam Phran could preserve the character of a small rural town itself, is the other city in the region, Om Yai, a bustling business, shopping, market and manufacturing area with modern facilities such as shopping centers, clinics and hospitals.

The sub-district of Tha Kham (usually written as Takham ) is the center of the Roman Catholic Christian community of Thailand. Michael Mihai Kitbunchu, the cardinal of Thailand, was born in Sam Phran, many Catholic communities have all left their monasteries and centers. The largest seminary in Thailand is also located here.

Other colleges, such as the National Police Academy and the St. Joseph Intertechnology College have their headquarters in the town of Sam Phran.

History

The county was established in 1896. His original name was Talat Soon ( New Market ). It was renamed in 1917 in Sam Phran.

Attractions

  • The Rose Garden ( สวน สามพราน - Suan Sam Phran ) in Tha Kham is a large garden complex at Nakhon Chai Si River with several restaurants and an international hotel and conference center. It is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Thailand with daily shows and demonstrations of Thai culture.
  • The Samphran Elephant Ground and Crocodile Farm ( ลาน แสดง ช้าง และ ฟาร์ม จระเข้ สามพราน ) is one of the largest of its kind in almost every Thai school child has been the performances of trained elephants and crocodiles visited.
  • Wat Rai Khing ( วัด ไร่ ขิง ) - Buddhist temple ( wat ) located directly on the shores of Chai Si River. Inaugurated in 1791 under the name of Wat Mongkol Chinda Ram Rai Khing, but known locally as Wat Rai Khing shortly. Directly on the Temple in Maenam Tha Chin River is one of several fish - protected areas of the Tha Chin River.
  • Talad Nam Don Wai ( ตลาดน้ำ ดอน หวาย ), a few kilometers north-east of Wat Rai Khing located. Don Wai is a traditional " market on the water " ( Talad Nam = market = water). As the actual Thai name rightly says, these were traditionally not as a "floating " market, and trades, as often seen in tourist brochures, apparently takes place on tiny boats in the water. The district Sam Phran is divided into 16 subdistricts (tambon ), which in turn in 137 village communities ( Muban ) are divided.

There are three cities ( Mueang Thetsaban ) in the district:

  • Sam Phran ( Thai: เทศบาล เมือง สามพราน ) consists of parts of tambon Sam Phran, Tha Talat Khlong Yai Mai and Cha.
  • Rai Khing ( Thai: เทศบาล เมือง ไร่ ขิง ) consists of the whole Tambon Rai Khing,
  • Krathum Lom ( Thai: เทศบาล เมือง กระทุ่ม ล้ม ) consists of the whole tambon Krathum Lom.

In addition there are two small towns ( Tambon thesaban ):

  • Om Yai ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล อ้อม ใหญ่ ) consists of the whole Tambon Om Yai and parts of Ban May
  • Bang Krathuek ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บาง ก ระทึก ) consists of the whole tambon Bang Krathuek.

There are also twelve " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations).
