Sam Pivnik

Sam Pivnik (actually Szmuel Piwnik ) (born 1 September 1926 in Będzin ) is a Holocaust survivor, witness and author.

Piwniks family lived in the spring of 1943 until 6 August 1943 at the ghetto in bendin when the family was deported to Auschwitz -Birkenau. Sam Piwniks father, his mother, sister and brothers Chana Meir, Wolf and Josef were murdered immediately after arrival. His older sister trade only survived for about 10 days until it was selected for the gas chamber.

In his autobiography Survivor: Auschwitz, The Death March and My Fight for Freedom, the author tells of his survival during the Holocaust in the concentration camps of Auschwitz -Birkenau, Fürstengrube and on the refugee ship Cap Arcona.

Pivnik today lives in London.
