Sam Rivers (Bassist)

Sam Rivers ( born September 2, 1977 in Jacksonville, Florida) is a bassist and founding member of the nu-metal band Limp Bizkit. He is the cousin of John Otto, drummer of the band.

Rivers began to play music during his school days. First, he played tuba in the school band of " Arlington Middle School ". By the time he was more interested and more for guitar and decided to switch to this tool. However, his music teacher gave the advice to learn Bass him. Sam followed the advice and played in the " Douglas Anderson School of the Arts " with his cousin John Otto in a jazz band. At this time, Sam worked in the fast food store " Chick-fil -A", where he met Fred Durst with which the two cousins ​​later the band Limp Bizkit founded. Musically Sam was influenced among others by bands like Black Sabbath and Megadeth. In 2000 he was awarded the " Orville H. Gibson Guitar Awards" " Best Rock Bass Player". Because Limp Bizkit had to manage a long time without guitarist, Sam has taken itself to a few songs on the album " Results May Vary " to the guitar.

In addition, Rivers has acted as a producer. During the preparations for the "Greatest Hitz " album, he worked with two local bands from Jacksonville with the name of Burn Season and The Embraced together.

Since 2001, Rivers is married to his longtime girlfriend Kinter Atkins.
