Sam Simon

Sam Simon ( born June 6 1955) is an American television producer. Along with James L. Brooks and Matt Groening, he produced the first two seasons of the series The Simpsons.

Life

Simon studied at the University of Stanford in 1977 and made his statements. He began his career in the early 1980s as a screenwriter, including the sitcoms Taxi and Cheers, later he supervised both series as a producer. Between 1988 and 1990 he worked as executive producer of The Tracey Ullman Show, in the animated series The Simpsons premiered as a short singleplayer. When the station decided to produce The Simpsons as an independent television series, Simon was next to Matt Groening to the main idea donors. Simon developed among others the figures of Mr. Burns and Dr. Hibbert. After the end of the fourth season Simon left the show due to irreconcilable differences with Groening. Although he has not worked on the series since 1993, he is still referred to as executive producer and receives several million U.S. dollars.

From 1984 to 1997 he was married to Jennifer Tilly. Simon has long been committed for his Foundation, which rescues stray dogs and occurs for the training of disabled people. He was the manager of former WBO titlist Lamon Brewster and was nominated in 2004 as the world's best boxing. In 2007 he participated in the World Series of Poker, finishing in 329th place. It supports Sea Shepherd that their ship Sam Simon 2012 - a former Japanese research ship - christened after him.

In November 2012 she was diagnosed with bowel cancer Simon. He made it public in July 2013 and announced to donate his entire fortune to charity.
