Sam Tingle

Sam Tingle ( born August 24, 1921 in Manchester, † December 19, 2008 in Cape Town) was a Formula 1 racer from Southern Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe.

Sam Tingle was a great racing enthusiast who began to drive in his native Rhodesia in 1947 with an old Bentley race. In the early 1950s, he drove MG before he bought a used Connaught, who was owned by Johnny Claes before. With this car he won the Rhodesian championship.

Tingle denied in the 1960s regularly race in the South African single-seater championship. Mostly, he drove the race car of Doug Serrurier and 1966 he celebrated his first major victory in East London with the victory at the Border Trophy.
