Sam Whitelock

Samuel Lawrence Whitelock ( born October 12, 1988 in Palmerston North, New Zealand ) is a New Zealand rugby union player at the position of the second row striker. His three brothers, Adam Whitelock, George Whitelock Luke Whitelock and also New Zealand rugby union player. His father also Braeden Whitelock is a former rugby player for the Junior All Blacks and his grandfather Nelson Dalzell was a New Zealand rugby national team.

Like his brothers, he went to high school in Feilding to school, where he played in the national team rugby from 2005 to 2007. In addition, he played from 2006 to 2007 in the U- 18 of the Manawatu RU, in the school selection of Hurricanes in the national as well as the New Zealand school choice. He also played in 2007 and 2008 for New Zealand at the Rugby World Youth Championship, which won his country respectively. However, in his school days he was a good basketball player next to the rugby.

2008 Whitelock moved to Lincoln to study at Lincoln University. There he joined the rugby club of the University. Already in his first year at the University of Sam Whitelock was elected in 2008 to her athlete of the year. Because of his achievements, he was appointed in the same year in the cadre of Canterbury RFU for the New Zealand Rugby Championship. Together with his brothers Adam and George he was with Canterbury 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 champion, although he hardly or did not play in the last two championships due to Nationalmannschftsverpflichtungen. His brother Luke plays since 2011 also at Canterbury.

Whitelock 2010 debuted at the Crusaders in the Super Rugby. George and Adam also play in the Crusaders. After his first Super Rugby season Sam Whitelock first time for the New Zealand national team ( All Blacks ) was nominated. With it he won the Tri Nations 2010, defended the Bledisloe Cup against the Australian national team ( Wallabies ) and took on the November tour in Europe the Grand Slam. In 2011 he defended the All Blacks Bledisloe Cup and the re- runs for them on at the Rugby Union World Cup 2011 in their own country.
