Samassi Abou

Samassi Abou (born 4 April 1973 in Gagnoa, Ivory Coast ) is a former French- Ivorian football player.

Born in the Ivory Coast striker began his professional career in the French second division side FC Martigues. After just one season he moved to the Division 1 to Olympique Lyon. There he played the first two years mostly in the core team, but inserts were subsequently due to his poor goalscoring increasingly rare. In 1996 he left Lyon and moved to AS Cannes, where he came to 37 missions, scoring 5 hits. End of October 1997 brought manager Harry Redknapp Abou for a transfer fee of £ 400,000 to West Ham United in the Premier League.

There, the former Under-21 national team of France reached in no time because of his hairstyle and his tech savvy way of playing cult status among fans. But, as before, at Lyon 's operations were due to its low goal tally less and less and the relationship with manager Redknapp cooled significantly. As Abou two transfer requests from Bradford City and the Heart of Midlothian declined, both were willing to pay £ 800,000 pounds for the player, he was also at West Ham no longer taken into account. He was loaned in December 1998 for a month at Ipswich Town, in October 1999 to the FC Walsall, but again sent the striker after two unsuccessful months back to West Ham. After two more lending, the French club Troyes AC and FC Kilmarnock in Scotland, his contract was terminated in the summer of 2000.

Abou then returned to France, where he received a contract with the Corsican club AC Ajaccio. In 2002 he was with Master Ajaccio in Ligue 2, but played no role in the planning for the premier league more and was no longer committed. His last season as a professional, he played 2002/ 03 at FC Lorient.
