Band History

The formation founded in 1988 in the San Francisco Bay Area. The band name was inspired by the main character of the children's book " Green Eggs and Ham " by American author Theodor Seuss Geisel ( aka Dr. Seuss ), the " Sam - I-Am " is named.

The mid-1990s, as a result of the punk revival, which had caused the success of the album Dookie the San Francisco - neighbor Green Day, moved the band from the independent label New Red Archives for major label Atlantic Records, where the album Clumsy has been published. However, this cooperation did not last long; as Atlantic 1996, a finished album did not want to publish, but the band did not allow the same time, offer it to another label, came the break. The later albums were re-released on independent record labels. In Europe, all albums have been released since Clumsy via Burning Heart Records.

Currently, the band consists of the two founding members Jason Beebout (vocals) and Sergie Loobkoff (guitar ) and Johnny Cruz ( drums) and Sean Kennerly, who after he had started as a guitarist moved to the position of the bass player is. After early 2006, Jeremy Bergo took this instrument Kinnerly could switch back to guitar again. Overall, the band's career from many line-up changes was characterized, in particular the position of the drummer changed frequently.

Bad Religion, No Doubt, Blink 182 and Green Day all played in their earlier years even as the opening act of Samiam. In Germany they were repeatedly seen, among other things, on a tour together with Texas Is the Reason, this has been documented by Tobby Holzinger with a split live album on Your Choice Records.

After the band for several years published no new album, they began in late 2005 with the work on a new album, which was released in September 2006 under the name "Whatever 's Got You Down ". In the following years it remained a few years quiet around the band. In the summer of 2010, she then came forward with the announcement of a European tour and the release of the album " Orphan Works" - a collection of unreleased songs from the period between 1994 and 1996 - back.

In September 2011, the band released the album " Trips" and came in October 2011 on a European tour.
