Samina (river)

The Samina (or Sami Abach ) is a whitewater river that has the Saminatal formed, the westernmost valley in Rätikon neighboring valley of Walgau. The Saminatal takes its side valleys about a third of the land area of Liechtenstein, but is sparsely populated. The river has a length of 10 km, of which in Liechtenstein 2 km, in the Austrian Vorarlberg 8 km away. With the headwaters Stägerbach (and its source rivers Valünerbach and Malbunerbach ) and Valorschbach it is beside the Alpine Rhine is the second longest river of the Principality of Liechtenstein.
The Samina created when boundary point between Triesenberg, an exclave of Schaan ( Brandegg ) and an exclave of Balzers ( Ölersegg ), where it takes its origin from the confluence of Stägerbach and Valorschbach. It flows from south to north eastern part of the Liechtenstein and changes to 873 m above sea level. M. the border. In the local area of Frastanz it opens in the Ill.
The water is used extensively for power generation, on the other hand, is used as a drinking water supply for the Liechtenstein communities and has grade I to II
In athletes, the body of water as a river rafting is popular.
